After the Storm: Help Protect Our Waterways

Colorful infographic illustrating the flow of stormwater through neighborhoods, emphasizing pollution sources like lawn chemicals, pet waste, and motor oil, and promoting clean water practices such as proper disposal and using rain gardens

Recent rains have been a strong reminder of just how important it is to keep our storm drains clear and clean. Remember: Storm drains do not lead to a treatment plant. They flow directly into our creeks, lakes, and rivers.

  • Trash, grass clippings, oil, paint, and other debris that enter storm drains = pollution in our water.
  • Flooded inlets clogged with leaves or litter can lead to localized flooding and property damage.

This isn’t just about flooding – it’s about protecting the water we all rely on.

If you see dumping, clogged drains, or anything suspicious near a storm drain, let us know. Report stormwater concerns directly on our new Stormwater Program page:  https://www.wcid17.org/stormwater/

Let’s work together to keep our storm drains clear and our waterways clean.
