Fire Hydrant Meters

  • Fire hydrant meters may be set up for temporary construction water or for hauling water.
Apply for a fire hydrant meter at the District office, 3812 Eck Lane, Austin, TX 78734.
  • District staff will set the meter at the designated hydrant.  There will be a $100.00 charge to move the meter to a different location.
  • Each meter must have a properly functioning backflow prevention device.  If the District provides this device, the user will be required to file test results within ten (10) days of installation.  If the fire hydrant meter is issued without a backflow device, the contractor must install a backflow preventer and have the device tested within ten (10) days.  The test certificate should be forwarded to the District office.
  • If the contractor is using a backflow device connected to a truck, the District must be provided with a test certificate prior to issuing the permit.

Bulk water hauling being done by water delivery services will be charged $250.00 per month, plus water volume charges.
