Plumbing Inspections
Before applying for a plumbing permit please review the general **inspection information**. Inspections are to be scheduled by the plumber and performed by Tommy Patterson's Quality Inspections (TPQI): phone (512) 259-1331, fax (512) 756-2210. You will need to correspond directly with TPQI to schedule inspection requests or for questions reqarding code requirements. All copies of inspections will be forwarded to WCID 17 by the inspection company.
Residential Inspections
Due to a change in the state law requiring the District to pay all plumbing inspectors directly, the inspection fees must be paid in advance when the permit is issued. Additional inspection fees may be required for large projects. The permit fee includes the permit fee of $50.00 and five required inspections as well as three re-inspections for a total of $450.00.
Commercial Inspections
District personnel will perform inspections for infrastructure and water mains in the street or line extensions. For plumbing inside the building contact Tommy Patterson's Quality Inspections at (512) 259-1331. Fees vary with each project but are typically $55.00 for each commercial inspection for a total of $490.00.
Irrigation Inspections
The Texas Legislature passed House Bill 1656 adding Section 49.238 of the Texas Water Code to establish and enforce the efficient use of water in irrigation. In compliance with this new law, Water District 17 has adopted a new Landscape Irrigation Policy to promote water conservation and insure proper design and installation of irrigation systems. This policy is effective as of July 1, 2009. As of January 1, 2010, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality requires a licensed technician must be on-site during installation, an irrigation permit posted and a set of system plans on-site. Please review the Permit / Inspection Fees for irrigation system fees that vary based on the meter size and the number of zones in the system.
