Notice to Irrigators
Note: All irrigation now requires a high hazard backflow prevention device.
All irrigation projects within WCID 17 require a plumbing permit. In addition, as you know,
within 7 days after the system has been installed, and before final inspection, the high hazard backflow device
must be tested by a certified tester. Documentation of the test and the final inspection must be filed with the
District office. Homeowners will be notified of this requirement.
After completing a project, your company should request an inspection usually within 10
working days of the permit issue date. The inspector should be presented with the test certificate when he
does the final. Please be sure to have these tests and inspections done. Uninspected or untested irrigation
systems will be red tagged, and customers will be subject to water service termination. Unpermitted projects
will be subject to a fine of $150. Repeated failure to comply with requirements will result in both fines and
a formal report to the licensing agency.
